Our Big Bend gets its own Bikini Top! Yeah baby! So we are installing what is called a Sun Bikini (by Ford) or a Bimini Top by the rest of us. Regardless of the name, it’s the same thing. It’s a mesh material that allows airflow, a little sun, and a lot of shade and is definitely a MUST HAVE for any Bronco. This is a BRONCO ONLY item. The Sport does not have a removable roof (y’all have no idea how many times we get asked that). The Bimini/Sun Bikini is available through the Ford accessories page.
It’s fairly easy to install. Any novice can do it. We highly suggest a helper with thumbs. You know, kids, spouse, partner, friend, neighbor, a monkey, or even a great ape will do! But you definitely need a second set of hands! The drive test was great. It does move a little (which is to be expected) but it wasn’t flopping around and the straps (make sure to tuck them in) weren’t flying around beating the car up and clanking the sides of the roll bar. Temperature difference with just the Bimini on vs the soft top down – BIG difference. Now you can leave the Bimini Bikini on the vehicle along with the soft top. You have to unlatch 2 of the hoots in the front corners, roll it back slightly, and put the top on. The areas where the roof latches on is the SAME area where the Bikini hooks on to. So the Bikini needs to have their hooks moved out of the way in order to secure the top. We will be getting another one for our Black Diamond. We might do a video to install it on the MIC hardtop Badlands to see how that works together. Gotta wait to see.
